I don't know if I will ever get a fan base of followers, nor do I really want to concern myself with that. I just want to use this as a way to keep track of the quilts I have made and see my progress as a quilter.
However, if someone out there is reading, here is a little intro about myself. I just started venturing into the world of quilting last year (2014). I am not new to sewing though. I learned to sew when I was younger. Growing up, my mom would make us clothes, Halloween costumes and even gymnastic leotards. I also took Home Ec. in middle school, where we learned to sew aprons and stuffed animals. About two years ago I had found a blog that inspired me to get my own sewing machine and get back to sewing. That blog is refashionista.net, if you were wondering. I loved seeing how she would transform her thift store finds, and kept thinking to myself, I could do that too. However, when I finally did get a sewing machine it took me about a year before I finally decided to make an item of clothing (and I've only ever made one). I started out making things with easy tutorials I found on the internet. That year for Christmas (2013) most of the women in my family received something handmade as a gift. It went over very well.
Up to that point, I had never even thought of the idea of making quilts. It wasn't until my sister-in-law was pregnant when I came up with the thought that I wanted to make a quilt. I figured now was as good of a time as ever to give it a shot. Plus, it would be a baby quilt. They are small, and babies can't judge my quilting abilities.
So on to my local quilt shop I ventured. I had been there previously, purchasing fabrics for my various other projects. So it wasn't completely new territory for me. Thankfully I had an idea of what theme she was using for the nursery, so I was in search of coordinating fabrics. Luckily I found a simple kit that would make my whole quilt top. The woman at the shop told me that it should only take a day to put it together and I snickered to myself, thinking, uh huh, sure, one day. We will see about that. Well guess what, she was actually right. I managed to get my pieces cut, and sewn together all in the same day. I was hooked from that day on. Now, like many quilters I know, I have a long list of current/ongoing projects and future projects.
So, that is just a little background on how my journey got started. I'm hoping to get some images of my completed projects up with a little description of each here soon.
